As of 1 January 2017, a specialised banks regime has been launched in Lithuanian legislation. Specialised banks shall be subject to the same requirements that are applicable for traditional banks. In contrast with traditional banks, the scope of services to be provided by specialised banks is limited (they cannot provide investment services or manage investment undertakings), however specialised banks are subject to less stringent initial capital requirements (EUR 1M vs EUR 5M).
