Dispute related with the real estate property in the Old Town of Vilnius

Our team represented one of the top schools in Lithuania on a pro bono basis. The dispute concerned a real estate property in the Old Town of Vilnius, which belongs to the Vilnius city municipality and was rented by a gymnasium (upper-school).

The owner of several restaurants filed a claim and requested the court to terminate the rental agreement between the Vilnius city municipality and the gymnasium, and transfer the property to one of his restaurants instead. The Court upheld the arguments of the Motieka & Audzevičius’ team and ruled that the public interest in the form of the well-being of the students was more important than the personal interests of the restaurant owner, and therefore the rental agreement is legitimate and reasonable.
