Case against one of the largest petroleum refining companies in the Baltic Region

Our firm has successfully represented inventor who is a citizen of the Russian Federation against one of the largest petroleum refining companies in the Baltic Region (and co-owner of the Lithuanian patent) which sought to re-open previous proceedings before Šiauliai Regional Court. Court dismissed all petroleum company’s arguments and the request in whole.

This outcome bears a large significance on the rights of the client because the request to re-open proceedings was used in bad faith by the other co-owner as an instrument to prejudice proceedings where the inventor alongside with other co-authors are claiming remuneration for the economic effect, which the petroleum refining company received during the period of 1996-2010 from the use of the invention.

Decision of the court may be appeal to the Court of Appeal of Lithuania.
