Dispute on the assignment of an address

The lawyers of our firm represented claimants in the dispute on the assignment of an address.

In a recent case in the Lithuanian Supreme Administrative Court Panevėžys Municipal Administration refused to assign a street name and house number due to the alleged fact that the street lay outside the Panevėžys area. According to the applicants, however, this street was situated between two residential areas.

This case, which has a significant impact on the assigning of addresses when the street is located between two residential areas, was resolved in favour of the applicant by the Lithuanian Supreme Administrative Court. The court noted that a street that is situated between two residential areas (municipalities) must be given the same name on both sides of the street and an appropriate number.
