Represented the Jesuit province of Lithuania

Our team has represented the Jesuit province of Lithuania in a case regarding the recovery of real estate property in the city centre of Vilnius, which had been expropriated during the Second World War and then privatised in the 1990’s by the counterparties.

The client had been seeking to recover the lost property for more than a decade, employing both administrative and judicial measures. Courts of all instances ruled in favour of the Jesuit province, however, proceedings were renewed in 2006, following a request by third parties.

Motieka & Audzevičius entered the conflict as counsel for the Jesuit province of Lithuania on a pro bono basis in 2011, giving the real possibility to use the illegally expropriated property for its social activities. In the re-examination of the case, the team of Motieka & Audzevičius has proven that there are no grounds to change the decisions of the courts, and subsequently the court has decided that the property belongs to the client.
