Represented a real estate developer in a civil case regarding the validity of privatization deal

Our team has successfully represented a real estate developer in a civil case regarding the validity of the privatization deal and the obligation to compensate for the illegal use of premises.

The claimant brought an action against our client, demanding to annul the contracts under which our client purchased a building of high cultural and historical value located in the Old Town of Vilnius. In the same case, our client made a counter-claim demanding the compensation for the loss of income due to the illegal use of client’s premises and the claimant’s refusal to transfer them to the legal owner.

Vilnius County Court decided to reject all claims of the claimant and to satisfy our client’s claim, awarding a substantial part of the demanded compensation. Both parties appealed against this decision to a higher court. Consequently, the Court of Appeal of Lithuania decided to dismiss the claimant’s appeal and to satisfy our client’s appeal by awarding two times higher amount of compensation.
