From 521’517 € to 0 €, bargaining power in dispute resolution

Two civil actions have been brought against the client, a natural person, for the award of debt and damages. The total amount of claims against the client amounted to 521’517 EUR.

Representing the client in the Vilnius Regional Court, our Dispute Resolution lawyers filed a counterclaim in one of the cases prompted both claimants to resolve the dispute amicably. During the rounds of negotiations, it was possible to agree on the terms of the settlement agreements, according to which the client “gets out” of all three disputes, i.e. claims were reduced to 227’147 EUR, and this amount will be covered not from the client, but from the money of the claimant, who has recognized the counterclaim as a settlement agreement.
