Dmitrijus Mačiuginas

Dmitrijus has over 8 years of experience representing both international and local clients in complex, cross-border civil, regulatory, and investment disputes, with a particular focus on the application of European Union law and the impact of state authorities’ decisions on business activities.

He has substantial experience in representing clients in complex civil and administrative litigation before Lithuanian courts, including high-value damages claims, shareholder disputes, and state-initiated proceedings concerning business restrictions and liability. Dmitrijus has also been actively involved in precedent-setting disputes against national supervisory authorities, with strategic implications for key sectors such as energy and industry. His experience further encompasses complex matters involving business restrictions, licensing, and regulatory changes.

In the field of international disputes, Dmitrijus has developed significant expertise in international commercial and investment arbitration under various rules (including ICC, LCIA, SCC and others), with a particular emphasis on representing clients in high-value arbitral proceedings. His practice also covers disputes related to investment protection, state liability, and complex multi-jurisdictional matters. In addition, he advises on the recognition and enforcement of foreign court judgments and arbitral awards across multiple jurisdictions.

He also represents clients in proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Dmitrius is actively engaged in academic activities – he conducts seminars in administrative law and procedure at Mykolas Romeris University and publishes on legal topics, including arbitration and administrative law. He leverages his academic background in handling complex client disputes.
