Represented a leading Lithuanian consumer organisation

Our firm has represented a leading Lithuanian consumer organization, acting as a complainant, before the Lithuanian Competition Council. The client has submitted a complaint against three leading international commercial banks for a possible cartel agreement related to debit card payments for cash money operations, directly charged over Lithuanian consumers.

The issue presented before the Competition Council has responded to a public controversy on the factual increase of debit card payments for cash money operations by three commercial banks, publicly represented by a common association on the contested issue, in a several weeks period. The client has also believed that this possible cartel agreement has been influenced by the recent EU Regulation 2015/751 that will substantially decrease the commercial banks income by setting a unified and decreased interchange fees for electronic transactions by the beginning of the 2016.
